21 November 2023
12:00 - 15:00

Event Type

  • Public Health Tackling Racism and Inequality

The London Anti-Racism Collaboration for Health (LARCH) invites you to join us on Tuesday 21st November to focus on London’s health and care organisation’s progression to becoming actively anti-racist organisations, as part of our efforts to tackle ethnic health inequalities in London.

The LARCH is a cross-sector programme, bringing together London’s health and care organisations – NHS, ICS, local authorities, public health, voluntary sector and community voices, and the GLA. Working together we are delivering the actions for Building a Fairer City (which has a linked event in the morning), and the commitment of the Mayor of London’s Health Inequalities Strategy to tackle structural racism.

The LARCH seeks to enable us all to go further and faster tackling structural racism through collaboration. Together, we will create a vision for change, share successes and challenges, and learn. This is the first event of the LARCH, following scoping and design phases over the last year.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Sir Michael Marmot, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London,  Director of The UCL Institute of Health Equity.
  • Marie Gabriel CBE, Chair of NEL ICS and Member of London Health Board, Chair of the NHS Race and Health Observatory.
  • Prof Kevin Fenton, Director, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (London), Regional Director of Public Health, NHS London, Statutory Health Advisor to the Mayor of London, GLA and London Assembly.

Tea and coffee will be available from 11:30am. Please note, there is airport-style security in place at City Hall, so please allow time to get through this before the event starts.

Please do sign up and share this invitation with interested colleagues. This is your chance to join us in creating change. For more details and to book your place, please follow this link.
