Inquiry into food, diet and obesity

Last month, our Vice President gave oral evidence to the House of Lords Committee inquiry on food, diet and obesity. Today, we have submitted our written response to the inquiry, which will report by the end of November, 2024.

The inquiry will consider the role of foods, such as ‘ultra-processed foods’ (UPFs) and foods high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) in a healthy diet, including how they influence health outcomes. It will assess how shifts in behaviours and trends have impacted obesity, how government policies have influenced these shifts, and the role of the industry and the wider public in the public health landscape.
