ADPH welcomes new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

We welcome Thérèse Coffey’s appointment as the new Secretary of State and look forward to working with her to address the public health challenges ahead. 

As well as continuing to manage the pandemic and current outbreak of monkeypox, it is vital that together, we develop a bold agenda to reduce the health inequalities in our society which were exacerbated by Covid-19 and are further threatened by the current cost of living crisis.

Directors of Public Health are also keen to continue developing constructive working between national, local government and the NHS via the new Integrated Care Systems and through truly collaborative partnerships to put prevention and public health at the centre of policy and provide the building blocks for a stronger, healthier society.
